The Falmouth Historic District contains the largest intact collection of British Colonial architecture in the Caribbean. The structures, which followed English design books, were built by enslaved craftsmen who adapted the plans to suit the tropical climate. Founded in 1769 and laid out on a Georgian grid plan, Falmouth replaced the inland port of Martha Brae and soon became the wealthiest port in the Caribbean, exporting sugar and rum and importing slaves from Africa. See sites such as the William Knibb Memorial High School, alma mater of Usain Bolt (the world fastest man). Also the Falmouth Parish Church which was Built in 1795(also known as St. Peter’s Anglican), it is the oldest public building in the town.
This scenic trip takes you to Rose Hall where you get to see the marvelous, world famous colonial style Rose Hall Great house “Haunted House”. You will get the most beautiful photo shots from the driveway which is lined on both sides with the colorful sight of flowering bougainvillea. We will then take you to Gloucester Ave. known to everyone, here and abroad as the “Hip Strip”, Pork Pit Restaurant, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville, Gift Shops, Craft Markets, Restaurants, etc. Tour ends at Aquasol Beach before going back to the ship.
